22. Fortree Gym

Walkthrough

Fortree City is built in the treetops, at the top of Route 119. When you first arrive, an invisible Pokémon is blocking the ramp up to the gym, and you cannot get past it yet.

Walk east out of Fortree onto Route 120. Steven is standing near the bridge. He uses a Devon Scope to show you an invisible Kecleon, which attacks. You can catch it. Afterwards Steven gives you the Devon Scope and flies off.

Go back to Fortree and use the Devon Scope on the Kecleon on the gym ramp, and it runs away. Inside the gym, you have to push through rotating gates to reach the leader. Winona uses Flying types, so Electric, Ice and Rock moves work well. She gives you the Feather Badge and TM40. With the Feather Badge you can use Fly outside battle.

A man in a Fortree house offers to trade you a Plusle. The trade cannot be completed.

Scorched Slab, a small cave reached by surfing on Route 120, holds a TM. The Ancient Tomb on the same route stays sealed until much later.
