Commands
The console, the chat's slash commands, and who may use which command.
pkmn has two places to type commands: the console, which every client has, and the chat
box, which understands a few commands that start with /. The command pages are generated
from the game's own command list at the release named at the bottom of each page.
All commands
Every command in one list, by category, with a filter.
Player commands
What every player can use on a live character: windows, chat, information, unstuck.
Offline commands
Testing commands. Refused on a live character unless you are a GM.
GM commands
Game-master commands. They need the GM role.
Console settings
The cl_ settings: volume, zoom, HUD, frame cap and more.
Opening the console
Press the backtick key (`, left of 1) to drop the console down, and press it again or
Esc to close it. While you are typing in the chat box the key types a backtick instead.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tab | Completes the word you are typing. Pressed again, it lists the matches and then cycles through them |
| Up / Down | Walk back through what you typed before. Start with a few letters typed and only lines beginning with them come up |
| Page Up / Page Down | Scroll the log |
| Enter | Run the line |
| Esc | Close the console |
Below the line you type on, the console shows the command's usage in amber as soon as it
recognises the name, and Tab's choices in pale blue. Type help for the list of commands and
help <command> for one of them, with an example.
Chat commands
In the chat box, /w (or /whisper) and /r (or /reply) send whispers.
Anything else you type in chat is sent as a message, even if it starts with /. Their pages are
with the player commands.
Who can use what
Every command has one of three levels, shown as a coloured chip on its page:
| Level | Who | On a live character |
|---|---|---|
| Player | everyone | works |
| Offline or GM | an offline session, or a GM | refused: "cheats are off on a live character" |
| GM only | an account with the GM role | refused: "not a GM" |
Two player commands, weather and unbuff, only read when typed alone; with an argument they
change something and need the Offline or GM level.
A refused command is stopped before it does anything. GM commands are published so players know what a game master can and cannot do; they are not secret.
Console settings
Settings whose names start with cl_ are not commands, but the console reaches them the same way:
type the name to see the value, or the name and a value to change it, for example
cl_chat_timestamps 1. They are listed under Console settings.
