Hoenn walkthrough — 6. Rustboro Gym

Petalburg City, Route 104, Petalburg Woods, Rustboro City. Wins the Stone Badge.

Walkthrough

Take the west exit out of Petalburg City onto the south half of Route 104. Walk north along the beach, past Mr. Briney's cottage, to the entrance of Petalburg Woods.

In the woods, a researcher from the Devon Corporation is being threatened by a Team Aqua grunt. Battle the grunt to scare him off, and the researcher thanks you with a Great Ball. Leave the woods by the north exit and follow the north half of Route 104 into Rustboro City.

Rustboro is a large city with a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart, the Pokémon School and the Devon Corporation building. In the Cutter's House you are given HM01. You can use Cut outside battle once you have the Stone Badge.

Then take on the gym. Roxanne uses Rock types, so Water, Grass, Fighting and Ground moves work well. Beating her earns the Stone Badge and TM39.

A man in one of the Rustboro houses offers to trade you a Seedot. The trade cannot be completed.

Not in the game yet

NPCs who offer a trade cannot complete it; see In-game trades.

Tracked as PO-663.

Differs from the mainline games

In Emerald, a traded Pokémon above the level your badges allow may disobey you. pkmn has no disobedience. Badges only change the level cap, and the cap applies only when you turn it on as a run modifier; see Level caps.
