Hoenn walkthrough — 5. Petalburg City

Walkthrough

As you leave Littleroot Town, Mom catches up with you and gives you the Running Shoes. Hold B to run.

Go north to Oldale Town and take the west exit onto Route 102. This is the first route with trainers, and each of them battles you when you walk into their line of sight.

Petalburg City is at the west end of Route 102. Go into the gym to meet your father, Norman. You cannot challenge him yet: he wants you to win four badges first.

While you are there, a boy named Wally comes in to ask for help catching his first Pokémon. Norman lends him a Zigzagoon, and you walk Wally back out to Route 102 and watch him catch a Ralts. Once he has gone home, Petalburg is done for now.

Your next goal is Rustboro City, north of Petalburg through Route 104 and Petalburg Woods.
