15. Route 5 to Vermilion City
Cerulean City, Route 5, Underground Path (Route 5 – Route 6), Route 6, Vermilion City.
Walkthrough
Leave Cerulean to the south onto Route 5. The gates into Saffron City are closed for now; a guard says he is thirsty. Take the Underground Path (Route 5 – Route 6) instead, which runs under Saffron to Route 6.
Differs from the mainline games
The Day Care on Route 5 is not open. The Day-Care Man declines to take a Pokémon, and there is no breeding or Egg hatching in pkmn. See breeding.
Route 6 has six trainers. Then you arrive in Vermilion City, a port city. Heal there and walk down the pier to the sailor at the ferry.
Vermilion has several gifts: the 
Old Rod from the fishing man's house, the 
Vs Seeker in the Pokémon Center, and the 
Bike Voucher from the chairman of
the Pokémon Fan Club after you listen to him. Take the voucher to the Cerulean bike shop for a free
Bicycle.
Differs from the mainline games
The VS Seeker does nothing yet: trainers cannot be rebattled. See gym rematches.
