8. Pewter Gym

Walkthrough

Walk north into Pewter City. A man in town walks you to the Gym door.

Brock uses Rock-type Pokémon: Geodude and Onix. Water and Grass moves work well, so Bulbasaur and Squirtle have an easy time. With Charmander, a Fighting-type Pokémon such as Mankey from Route 22 helps.

There is one Gym trainer, Liam, before Brock. Beating Brock earns the Boulder Badge and TM39 (Rock Tomb).

The Pewter Museum is in town too. The Old Amber comes from a scientist in its back room; the lab on Cinnabar Island can revive it much later.
