Berry farming

Berries themselves are in the game. You find them as items, get them as gifts, and your Pokémon can hold and use them in battle; each berry's page says where to get it. The EV-lowering berries work too (see EV training).

What it will be

Emerald has 88 berry tree spots on its routes, each with soft soil where a berry grows through four stages over a number of hours, can be watered with the Wailmer Pail for a bigger harvest, and regrows when left unpicked. FireRed has no trees. The design being studied for pkmn starts from Emerald's trees and looks at farming in the style of PokeMMO, where berries are grown from seeds in soil you tend. Nothing is decided yet.
