Priority
Who moves first: move priority, Quick Claw, Speed, Trick Room and speed ties.
Order of a turn
- Switching goes first, then items from the Bag, then moves.
- Moves go in order of priority, highest first.
- Within the same priority, a Pokémon whose Quick Claw or Custap Berry activated goes first.
- Then a Pokémon with Stall, or holding a Lagging Tail or Full Incense, goes last.
- Then the faster Pokémon goes first. Under Trick Room the slower one does.
- A speed tie is decided by a coin flip.
Quick Claw activates 20% of the time, and only for a Pokémon that chose a move. Prankster gives status moves +1 priority.
Move priority
| Priority | Moves |
|---|---|
| +5 | Helping Hand |
| +4 | Detect, Endure, Magic Coat, Protect, Snatch |
| +3 | Fake Out, Quick Guard, Wide Guard |
| +2 | Ally Switch, ExtremeSpeed, Feint, Follow Me, Rage Powder |
| +1 | Aqua Jet, Bide, Bullet Punch, Ice Shard, Mach Punch, Quick Attack, Shadow Sneak, Sucker Punch, Vacuum Wave |
| 0 | Every other move |
| −1 | Vital Throw |
| −3 | Focus Punch |
| −4 | Avalanche, Revenge |
| −5 | Counter, Mirror Coat |
| −6 | Circle Throw, Dragon Tail, Roar, Teleport, Whirlwind |
| −7 | Trick Room |
Differs from the mainline games
Priorities are the Generation 9 values, so several moves differ from Emerald and FireRed: Protect, Detect and Endure are +4 (was +3), Fake Out +3 (was +1), ExtremeSpeed +2 (was +1), Follow Me +2 (was +3), Bide +1 (was 0) and Teleport −6 (was 0).
Speed in battle
The Speed stat after its stat stage, then:
| Effect | Speed |
|---|---|
| Swift Swim (rain), Chlorophyll (sun), Sand Rush (sandstorm) | ×2 |
| Quick Feet (with a status) | ×1.5 |
| Unburden (after using its held item) | ×2 |
| Slow Start (first turns) | ×½ |
| Choice Scarf | ×1.5 |
| Quick Powder (Ditto) | ×2 |
| Macho Brace, Power items, Iron Ball | ×½ |
| Tailwind (4 turns) | ×2 |
| Paralysis (not with Quick Feet) | ×½ |
| Swamp (Grass and Water Pledge) | ×¼ |
Trick Room lasts 5 turns. It only reverses the Speed comparison: priority still comes first and ties are still a coin flip.
In a double battle, switches and items go first in field order, not by Speed.
