Flinch
When a Pokémon flinches, and what makes it more or less likely.
A Pokémon that flinches loses its move for that turn. A flinch only works if the target has not moved yet this turn, so the attacker has to move first.
- Moves with a flinch chance roll it on each hit that lands. Serene Grace doubles the chance.
- Fake Out always makes the target flinch.
- King's Rock and Razor Fang give a 10% flinch chance (20% with Serene Grace) to any damaging move that leaves the target standing, unless the move already has a flinch chance or the user has Stench.
- Stench gives a 10% flinch chance to damaging moves that have none of their own.
What stops it
- Inner Focus prevents flinching.
- Shield Dust on the target and Sheer Force on the attacker remove the chance.
- A Substitute blocks it.
Steadfast raises Speed by one stage each time its holder flinches. A flinch also breaks a move that locks the user in for several turns.
Differs from the mainline games
In Emerald and FireRed, King's Rock only works with moves on a fixed list. In pkmn it works with every damaging move that has no flinch chance of its own, as in Generation 5 and later.
