Randomizer

Shuffle the Pokémon in the world.

The randomizer shuffles which Pokémon appear in the world. It is only available to Ironman and Group Ironman characters, and it makes the run tuned.

What changes

Species are swapped everywhere a Pokémon appears: wild grass and water, Rock Smash, fishing, the starters, gift and one-off Pokémon, and trainers' parties. Each gym and the Elite Four are given a type, no two the same, and their trainers use Pokémon of that type. A rival's starter keeps following the line of the starter you were given.

Base stats, types, abilities, movesets and evolutions are not changed. Badges, TMs, levels and the story stay as they are. A Pokémon is never replaced by itself unless nothing else fits.

Choices

ChoiceEffect
Similar (default)Every species is replaced by one of roughly the same strength, so the difficulty curve survives: same evolution stage, base stat total within 15%.
FullAnything can be anywhere. Wild Pokémon are never harder to catch than the starters.
Legendaries (off by default)Lets the legendary species into the pool as well.

The pool is the 386 species of the first three generations.

Seeds

You never type a seed: the server picks one when the character is made. The character card shows the seed and a check value for the settings, so two runs with the same seed and check value play the same world.

A player can publish their run's seed, which gives it a short number like #12. Another player can enter that number when making a character to play the same shuffled world under the same settings. Sharing a seed does not let the two players trade.

In a group

The founder chooses once for the whole group: One world (everybody plays the same shuffled world) or One each (everybody gets their own shuffled world, under the same rules). A member cannot bring a published seed into a group.

Use your seed on the wiki

The wiki can show the world as your run plays it. Press Your run at the bottom of the sidebar (on the home page, the shuffle button at the top right; or search for "seed"), paste your seed, choose the flavour and the legendaries setting, and press Show my run.

Your character card has all three. In the card's Run section, the Randomizer row reads Similar or Full, with "+legendaries" when legendaries are in the pool. Press the Seed row to open Seed & check, where the whole seed is written out: a whole number of up to 19 digits, often with a minus sign. Copy all of it; a seed with a digit missing is a different world.

A seed published with Share this seed also has a short id such as #96, which the card's button then copies. Paste that instead (#96, 96 or seed #96) and the box fills in the flavour and legendaries setting the seed was published under; they cannot be changed. The wiki looks the id up on the game server, which only answers the wiki from the next game update on; until then the box says so, and the whole seed works as before.

While a run is set, that button becomes a chip such as "Run · Full · …345", and the pages change:

  • Wild Pokémon tables show what each slot holds in your run, with the default Pokémon struck through and a "Randomized" label. When the slots one Pokémon fills turn into different Pokémon, each gets its own row with its own rate.
  • A Pokémon's Where to find lists where your run puts it: the wild slots, starters, gifts and one-off encounters.
  • Starters, gifts and static encounters on location pages and the legendaries table show what you will be given or meet.
  • Gym leader and Elite Four pages show the type your run gave them. Their teams are rebuilt from that type in the game, but the wiki does not show the exact Pokémon.

Other trainers' teams and the rival's starter change in the game too, but the wiki shows them as they are by default. Eggs are never randomized.

The switch at the bottom of the page flips between Default data and Run data without forgetting your run, and the chip's × clears it. The run is kept in this browser only.

A link can carry a run, so you can send someone a page as your world has it: /pokemon/charizard?seed=-7431328918264812345&flavour=full (add &legendaries=on when they are in the pool). Opening it sets that run in the reader's browser.
