Version 0.57.0

Released 2026-09-30

Battles

  • Substitute now works: the user pays a quarter of its HP for a decoy that takes the hits and blocks status moves.
  • Magic Coat sends a status move back at its user, and Snatch steals the next boosting or healing move for itself.
  • Transform, Mimic and Sketch copy for real, and a move your Smeargle Sketches stays with it after the battle.
  • Beat Up hits once per healthy party Pokemon, and Conversion, Conversion 2 and Camouflage change the user's type.
  • Using a bag item on a Pokemon under Embargo now says it won't have any effect, and the item and turn are not spent.
  • In double battles a foe's Fly, Dig or other two-turn move now lands on the Pokemon it aimed at when it charged.
  • Pokemon learn their modern moves by level, and some learn one more when they evolve; trainers still use their classic movesets.
  • TMs are now bag items named by their move, so a TM you buy, find or win teaches the move on its label.

Kanto

  • Reading a Fuchsia zoo sign, or looking at a picture on Bill's PC, marks that Pokemon as seen in your Pokedex.
  • Professor Oak comments on your Pokedex again after the seen and caught counts, and plays the completion fanfare only for a full one.

Hoenn

  • Gabby and Ty move on after you beat them, from Route 111 to Route 118 and then Route 120, as on the cartridge.
  • The Lilycove Lottery Corner no longer pretends you won or offers a prize it cannot give; every ticket loses for now.
  • The lady in the Lilycove Pokemon Center talks again: the Favor Lady tells you what she wants, though you cannot give it to her yet.
  • The Move Tutor in Fallarbor teaches a move your Pokemon has forgotten, or evolved past, for one Heart Scale.
  • The Mauville Game Corner roulette tables now say they are not built yet, and the TM prize clerk names the move you picked.
  • The old man in the Mauville Pokemon Center is the Bard again: he looks the part and sings you his song.

Interface

  • In double battles at 1280x720 and larger the HP boxes no longer cover the Pokemon; they sit in the corners, as on the cartridge.
  • Learning a new move shows the power, accuracy and category battles use, and the PC box spells move names as the summary does.
  • In battle menus, clicking the "B GO BACK" hint goes back, so the mouse can leave any menu the B button can.
  • NPCs who ask for one of your Pokemon open the party menu, so the Move Deleters in Lilycove and Fuchsia now work.
  • Show a completed Pokedex to the game designer in Lilycove or Celadon and he now hands you your Game Freak diploma.

Fixes

  • After a battle that ended while you were disconnected, the money shown at login now matches your real balance.
  • Moves added after Gen 3 show their real name, type and PP outside battle, and max PP now matches what battles allow.
  • A key item that showed up twice in the bag, such as a second Repel Tonic, now shows once.
  • The summary and PC box now show the ability a Pokemon actually battles with, hidden abilities included.
  • A wild battle the server never sent you is now called off, and double battles can't pay more exp than their foes are worth.
  • A battle the server can't start is now called off with a message, instead of fought for experience that won't count.
  • Reconnecting during the rival fight in Oak's lab now finishes the scene, instead of fighting it again or whiting you out.
  • Whiting out in Kanto costs FireRed's amount, based on your top level and badges, instead of half your money.
  • Fly and the bird that carries Steven away now take the same time on any display, instead of rushing on high refresh rates.
  • The PokeNav, the three sodas and the three EXP Candies now have bag icons instead of an empty square.
  • A trainer the server can't set up a battle with is no longer counted as beaten; the battle is called off and they stay to fight.
  • The server now refuses money a modified client tries to pay itself; only a server-run sale, prize or GM adjustment adds money.
  • A modified client can no longer walk faster than the game allows to fish for encounters, or choose which past encounter to fight.
  • The server now refuses items a modified client adds to its bag by calling them tossed, used or taken from a Pokemon.
  • The Effort Ribbon woman in Slateport now gives the ribbon only to a lead with maxed effort, and remembers it the next time.
  • When both Pokemon faint in the same turn you now pick your next one before the trainer sends theirs, and Explosion's user faints once.
  • Leaving Cycling Road through the south gate ends your ride, so the man at the finish line stops saying "Always aim higher!"
  • A battle that failed to start no longer blocks every battle after it until you reconnect.
  • The link counters upstairs in every Pokemon Center and Mossdeep's minigame man now say link play isn't available there.
  • Using several Rare Candies in a row no longer takes the levels back with a message about another session.
  • The developer console no longer lets players set story flags, teach moves, grant buffs, teleport or change speed or weather.
  • A new character's money and bag are the server's from creation, so a modified client can't write itself either before its first purchase.

Known issues

  • Hidden Power has a flat power of 60, but its type cannot be changed with Gems yet (PO-778).
  • Double battles have no compact layout on small interfaces yet (PO-763).
  • When the last Pokemon on both sides faint in the same turn, the battle counts as your loss; the draw rule is undecided (PO-864).
  • The PC box window can open partly off-screen on displays under 1263x706 at 1.5x interface scale (PO-851).
  • Castform does not change form in weather.
